Rob Batiste

In 1977 Rob Batiste joined the Guernsey Press Co as a Sports Reporter and 46 years later, while retired from full-time work, he remains a proud part-time employee of the paper. He served as the paper’s Sports Editor for more than 25 years, and since 2008 he has produced a weekly historical column entitled ‘LOOKback’, as well as a series entitled ‘Coast’ focusing on the island’s beaches and harbours. The publication of Coast in 2010 proved to be one of the island’s biggest best-sellers for a generation and since then he has co-written a book on the history of the Muratti Vase football competition, and penned the Big Book of Sport which charts the history of sport in Guernsey and heralds its many stars of the 20th century. In addition, his popular ‘LOOKback’ series has led to the publication of a ‘best of’ collection.
